The Glasgow Homoeopathic Hospital was designed by Macmon Architects. The Lead Artist’s brief was to collaborate with the Design Team and the Client to ‘enhance the healing environment’.

Project Summary

Project : Glasgow Homoeopathic Hospital
Client : NHS Greater Glasgow Trust
Partners : Arts in Health, Dundee
Location : Glasgow
Sector : Public and Endowments
Duration : 1998 – ongoing

Conceptually based on research into homoeopathy, and inspired by the internal architectural space and light, the artist devised a colour and materials palette of silver white, terracotta, ochre and lavender to be used in dilutions site wide for all remaining specifications.

The Lead Artist was also commissioned as main contractor to design and construct a garden as extension of the internal space. Inspired by the generous architectural access to the greenspace, as well as homoeopathic concepts of life force and memory of water, a silver white path winds through the site giving all weather access from all wards. The path also defines several different planting areas whose colour strengthens from north to south.
