Project Summary

Project : Claylines Residency
Client : Scotland’s Year of the Artist 2000
Partners :  Kyra Clegg and Errol Brickworks
Location : Errol Brickworks, Perth and Kinross
Sector : Public
Duration : 12 months

The findings of the artists’ research inspired the conceptual basis for the temporary installation of large sculptural structures sited within the landscape of what is one of the oldest industrial sites in Scotland. Seven site specific pieces, in unfired clay and other organic materials, define a circular track around a disused, overgrown and waterfilled claypit.

The resulting pool is now a nature reserve surrounded by swathes of tall reeds, a wide horizon of flat fields and the sounds of birdsong and brickworks.  Build on the land, from the land, the artworks are embedded in it and with the passage of time will return to it leaving no footprint.
