The Memory of the Land is an ongoing studio project about the ‘palimpsest’ nature of landscape and the way in which each generation replaces old structures with new ones while simultaneously leaving behind fragments of previous functions within the built and natural environment.

Inspired by the abandoned agricultural structures, walled gardens and other horticultural enclosures, these small experimental three dimensional sketches using glass, metal, stone and cellophane represent the forms, colours, light and texture of the lie of the lands of Argyll.
