Although apparently representing opposites of darkness and light, the black paintings and the water photographs of Eclipses and Tides all have at the source of their making, powerful visual catalysts – from media imagery of vast oily seas and to the exquisite low winter sun under west coast water.
The Artist Residency of Claylines demonstrates an approach to a large scale although temporary installation taking materials as theme. In celebrating the sustainable relationship between land use and materials, its structures eventually returned to the landscape on and with which it was built, leaving no evidence of footprint.
Observation of the surrounding designed and natural landscape leads the small scale Memory of the Land pieces while the ongoing Studio and Garden project has provided for the artist a protected and inspiring work base which supports her creative professional practice.
